Neighborhood Details

Home and Landscape Maintenance
All external home and landscape alterations to include painting must be pre-approved by the HOA Architectural Committee. In addition, you will need a Building Permit to build, remodel, or make additions to your home, to include installation of satellite dishes. Building permits may be obtained by the home owner or the contractor by filling out an application at the town office. This should be done after first submitting your plans to the HOA board for Architectural Committee approval.

Neighborhood Lighting
We enjoy the visual advantage of not having overhead utilities and unsightly utility poles in our neighborhood. This means that the only light provided for our neighborhood streets is that provided by our exterior lights. Our covenants require that we keep our outside lights on. Please ensure that your exterior lighting is functional and on during the hours of darkness.

Parking

Owners please be reminded that overnight parking on our neighborhood streets is prohibited by town ordinance. This ordinance is enforced between the hours of 3:00 and 6:00 AM. If it is necessary to park on the streets due to driveway repair or some other reason, you must get a permit from our town police department in advance.

Pets
Our urban environment provides the perfect opportunity for residents to enjoy the comfort of pets. That being said, we do live in close proximity to one another and violations of pet control ordinances can be cause for disharmony. Most animal control issues fall under the jurisdiction of the town and/or county and are administered by the respective police and sheriff’s Animal Control Officers. To avoid escalation of issues to engage the authorities, we offer the following reminders to our neighbors:

Physical control – The town of Columbine has a leash law. All dogs are required to be on a leash when they are not physically on the owner’s property. It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that dogs are not allowed to leave their property limits unless they are on a leash.

Barking Excessive barking is a violation of the noise control ordinances. Pet owners are responsible to make sure that their pets do not unduly interfere with the rights of others for quiet enjoyment of their own property.

Waste Control – Pet owners are required to pick up and properly disposed of their pet’s waste on and off their property.

Wildlife

Our neighborhood enjoys an abundance of native wildlife to include coyotes, foxes, possums, raccoons, the occasional bull snake (typically in the undeveloped, less traveled areas), garter snakes (startling, but harmless and beneficial), squirrels, and many birds to include several birds of prey. Many of the species with whom we share space are protected. Please be aware that small pets may be considered part of the food chain by some of our wildlife members and therefore caution is urged.
