Meeting Notes April 2, 2013

In Attendance: Jim Roller, Jim Howard, Jeff Brooks, Corey Siegel, Jan Ford

Meeting called to order at 6:40 by president, Jim Roller. There were no guests.

Jim Howard announced his resignation as Treasurer of the HOA Board, effective as the end of April.  All present expressed our thank you to both Jim and Nancy for their service to the community through their work with the HOA board and simply for being good neighbors.  We extended the invitation to attend summer and Christmas parties so they can keep in touch with our community.

The Treasurer’s report was discussed in depth due to the upcoming transition to a new Treasurer.        We had unanimous agreement to raise the annual dues from $35 to $100, effective 1-1-2014.  Increases in costs of services and a need to gradually create a reserve have made this change necessary.  Letters will be sent to all in the community prior to the next board meeting so anyone wishing to discuss the dues increase can attend the July, 2013 Board meeting.

The search is on for a new Board Member to fill the position of Treasurer.

Architectural Committee had no news.  Website updates included a new home page seasonal photo.

Landscape and Maintenance reported that the entrances will be upgraded as soon as plans are finalized.  All agreed that this budgeted expenditure of $2,800 will make a pleasant change in the entrances and will allow some necessary repair of the sprinkler system.

Much discussion was held regarding traffic cutting through the Village to gain access to Bowles, especially during peak hours in the morning and evening.  The cut-through traffic problem is compounded by speeding and failure to honor stop signs.

There was agreement that in order to assist The Town in controlling this problem, we will acquire and use motion detecting video cameras.  This approach can provide some traffic count numbers and also will allow focus on peak times for having law enforcement on site to monitor the problem and issue citations as necessary.  Citizen awareness and involvement, in addition to video cameras should help control the problem.  If not, further discussion of entrance gates for traffic control will be necessary.

Meeting adjourned at 8:00.

Jan Ford, Secretary
