Meeting Notes from April 7, 2014

The Village in Columbine Valley Board Meeting notes from Monday, 4-7-2014, The Town Hall Board Room, 6:30 to 8:00 PM

Call to order and President’s greeting  –

After the normal few minutes of greetings and informal discussion, we came to order at 6:50 PM.  We added last minute agenda items to the formal agenda.  All board members were present for this meeting.

Secretary Report – Jan Ford —

Jan reported on The Town’s election held on 4-1-2014.  Mayor Gale Christy was re-elected.  Trustees Ken Cook had 269 votes, Richard Champion had 393 votes, Bruce Menk had 293 votes and David Cope had 303 votes.  There were no changes or additions to the minutes of the previous meeting.

Treasurer’s report – Mimi Kuchman —

Mimi presented a formal treasurer’s report, showing budgeted items and providing for actual expenditures as they occur.  Restricted funds have not yet been received for this year and she will follow up on those funds.  Discussion of cash flow and normal expenditures indicate a strong financial position of the HOA.   A reminder was sent to all residents of The Village, that HOA dues are now due and payable, if not already paid.

Architectural Committee and Web Site reports  – Jeff Brooks —

Jeff reported approval of installation of solar panels at 29 Village Drive and considerable progress on the interior remodel at 11 Columbine Lane.  There are no concerns with the web site.

Landscape and Maintenance   – Cory Siegel —

Cory reported installation of new lights at the west entrance to The Village.  Discussion of disposition of the old lights resulted in a decision for donation to the Habitat for Humanity and Cory will handle that.  Discussion of restoration of the badly weathered and faded signs for The Village (at the west entrance) resulted in Mimi Kuchman volunteering to do what restoration is possible.  Jeff Brooks will attempt a computer image to aid in selecting the best colors and contrasts.  Discussion of the east entrance resulted in Mimi Kuchman volunteering to search for someone who could design and build an entrance panel of stone or brick to upgrade that entrance.  Upon getting plan drawings and estimated costs, it will be necessary to review the proposal with the land owner for authorization to create a more distinctive east entrance to The Village.   New flowers will be planted in the west entrance island about mid May.

A work day was set for May 4th at 10 AM.  We will need some volunteers to help clean up along the west wall of The Village and we will meet at the west entrance at 10 AM.

Old Business:

Traffic concerns –  Jeff Brooks reported positive discussions with various organizations relative to traffic flow in The Village.   Two board members are working with video cameras and manual note taking to determine how great the flow- through traffic issue is.  The informal study will also pin point the peak periods when we need additional police traffic patrol.

New Business:

There was brief discussion of an HOA supported 4th of July party on Columbine Lane.  It was tabled due to lack of interest.

Spring clean up along west wall set for 5-4-2014 at 10 AM.  We need volunteers.

Wilder Commons – discussion of exterior design of proposed homes was not positive, although there is a very favorable impression of the two developers behind the project.  One of our Board members did participate in a tour of previously built homes done by this same developer, resulting in a more positive opinion of the design of the proposed homes.

Announcements and general discussion:

Important future dates include: Board meetings set for 7-14-2014, 10-7-2014.  Summer party on Friday, 6-6-2014, from 5:30 to 8:30 PM.  Community Garage Sale on 6-7-2014.  Meeting adjourned at 8 PM
